Our last week was spent in two different cities: Milan and Venice. Milan was first and we were only there for two days. Our thoughts on Milan were: it would be a great place to visit if you had thousands of dollars to spend on designer clothing. As you can see from our previous blog posts, our clothes may look designer but...in fact they are not. Therefore, we had an OK time in Milan and saw the main cathedral there known as the Duomo and visited the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele (shopping plaza). Enough said.
Now onto Venice. It was another highlight of our trip. We just loved walking the streets, looking at the little shops, having lunch, taking pictures of the old buildings against many of the various canals that snake through the city, checking out St.Mark's Basillica and the Doge's Palace. Not to mention, taking a gondola ride down the canals. Our accommodation was a campsite on the mainland about 15 mins by boat to Venice. In the morning, we would catch the boat right outside our campsite, spend our day in Venice, then boat back to the campsite. It was a nice change of pace to stay outside of the city yet still have convenient access to the city. We loved the three days that we spent in Venice and would definitely return someday!

Mediocre Milan & Voluptuous Venice

Nice pictures. Donovan, change your shirt. Or at least shave. Joel says hi. He eats rocks now. Mom lets him when she babysits. He always has new bruises when I come home. JK. Well, enjoy the rest of your time in Italy!!

We're happy that your trip is going well. The hot weather...well, suck it up. We still have rain. You'll sure appreciate your bed back home when you return but it looks like you have great accommodations. Thanks for keeping in touch. Love Mom Q.
Traci, someday when we're rich we have to go to Louis Vuitton and splurge....so what if we can only afford the keychains....let's do it :)
So glad to hear you enjoyed Venice! It was also a highlight for us last summer. We even got to spend Jon's 25th birthday there.
Isn't St. Mark's beautiful!? Did you guys hear the string music in San Marco square while you were there? Its such a great place to wander and enjoy the sights and sounds. Also so glad to hear you splurged and did the gondola ride! We also did and I'm so glad... you can't go to Venice and NOT take a romantic gondola ride through the canals :)
Ahhhh.... so envious! Keep enjoying it for those of us that wish we were there too :)
PS: Were you also in San Marco's square near the end of the day, when the water starts to come up through the cracks and it seems like the whole city is going to sink!? Pretty crazy stuff hey!?
so are you saying that you DIDN'T buy a ridiculously expensive handbag in Milan?? it would have been the perfect accessory to your MEC packs. really. and i am also especially enjoying lisa's comment about joel eating rocks. and about how your mom lets him. can you believe you've been travelling for almost 2 whole months?! you're seasoned pros...
I'm glad you told me that it was a statue of David, I thought it was Donovan standing outside the laundromat while his clothes were getting their daily laundering.
