We arrived in Florence a few days ago and have been experiencing the warmest weather so far on our trip! The first day we got here, it was 36°C. To us, that's hot. We wasted no time though, and on the day of arrival we got right to some sight-seeing as there is plenty to see in Florence. We visited many basilicas & cathedrals including Santa Maria del Fiore(Duomo), San Lorenzo & Santa Croce that houses Michelangelo's tomb. Speaking of Michelangelo, we also went to see his sculpture of the David at the Accademia Gallery. Unfortunately, they didn't allow photos to be taken inside, so we've included a photo of one of the two replicas of the statue that are in the city. The original, however, is so very intricate and massive, that the replicas don't do it justice.
We also took a half day trip into Pisa to see one thing and one thing only...The Leaning Tower. Very touristy! But, because Florence is so close to Pisa, we couldn't pass up the opportunity. However, we didn't climb to the top of the tower as it would have costed us $50 Canadian to do so. We ain't paying nobody to climb up 300 steps.
We've greatly enjoyed our short time in Florence and are looking forward to continuing our travels in Italy with our next stop being Rome.

Wow, that's some tricky photography. You almost look like you are pushing/holding up the tower. And Donovan, when you get home, I don't want to ever see that shirt again. Have fun in Rome! Bring me back something French.

I'm completely impressed with your photography "trickiness!" Love the pictures, even if Dono is a dirty dawg that never changes his clothes :) Enjoy Rome... it will truly blow your mind.

Well i'm sure glad you explained that camera trick with the pisa tower. i was so confused there for awhile. HAve fun in Rome, how fun - and remember, when in Rome, do as the ROmans do. i don't know what they do, but you better do it.

Donovan your strength in pushing the tower over must come from all the spinach and broccoli you ate as a kid ~ not!!!
I wish you could see our front and back yard right now. The flowering plum tree in the front yard is blooming with light pink flowers and the flowering crab apple tree is a huge mass of pink flowers, in the garden the apple trees look like white popcorn trees. The fragrance is amazing. I must say it looks almost as lovely as the picture of park in the Pena National Gardens on your blog!!!!!!
Anyway...looks and sounds like you are having a blast! We love following your adventures. Thanks for posting and keeping us connected.
