We have been spending our last few days exploring the beautiful cities of Barcelona, Spain & Carcassonne, France. Barcelona is known for it's architecture & more specifically it's most famous architect Antoni Gaudi. We went to the Sagrada Familia (a church which has been under construction for over 100 years) and walked around inside the unfinished building. The interior of the church still looks like a construction site with tons of scaffolding and supplies just lying around. We also went to other buildings and areas designed by Antoni Gaudi including Park Guell where he designed sculptures and some small buildings that were very colourful and out of the ordinary. We really enjoyed our time in Barcelona since there was so much to see.
We then went to the castle town of Carcassonne, France. Actually, most of the town lives outside of the medieval walls with only 120 residents living inside. We had a really great accomodation here which was directly outside the city walls. For the first time on our trip we were able to go swimming in our hotel's outdoor pool. Being here reminded us of Rothenburg (see previous post) since it was such a quaint preserved town.
We have been travelling for 6 weeks now and we feel like we are getting into our own routines. We feel like our navigation skills are at an all time high as well as our knowledge of public transportation systems around Europe. We are also starting to enjoy wearing the same clothes over and over again & only washing them every few weeks! Here are some pics of the last few days!
